Remote MCP connector

Schedule Social Media Posts with ChatGPT

Most content dies in the chat window. Connect SchedPilot to ChatGPT and the ideas it generates go straight onto your calendar, instead of being copied into another tab and forgotten.

  • No API key — sign in with OAuth
  • Nine networks from one conversation
  • Every post waits for your approval

Last reviewed October 2026. A human still approves every post before it publishes.

Setup

Connect ChatGPT in three steps

01

Open connector settings

In ChatGPT, go to Settings and choose to add a custom connector.

02

Paste the server URL

Use the URL below. There is no client id or secret to create.

03

Sign in and allow access

A SchedPilot consent page opens. Approve it and the tools appear straight away.

https://api.schedpilot.com/mcp

Paste this as the connector URL. OAuth handles the rest — no key to copy.

Then just ask

No commands to learn

Once the connector is added, ChatGPT picks the right tool on its own. You describe the post in plain English; it finds the accounts, writes the copy and puts it on the calendar. Close the tab and the scheduled post still goes out on time.

ChatGPT · via SchedPilot Found your LinkedIn and X accounts. I have drafted both, tuned the length for each network, and queued them for 9:00am tomorrow. They are waiting in your calendar for approval — want me to add an image?

What ChatGPT can do

get_accounts
List every connected social account, with its id and type.
create_post
Schedule a post to one or many accounts, with media, a thread and a video title.
list_posts
Read scheduled and published posts, filtered by date or status.
delete_post
Cancel a scheduled post before it goes out.
upload_media

Rate limits are 150 read and 100 write requests per hour, per user. Scheduling a post with media costs two writes.

Why ChatGPT

From ideas to a queue, without the copy-paste

The gap between "ChatGPT wrote me ten good posts" and "ten good posts went out" is usually twenty minutes of manual pasting. With the connector, the drafting and the scheduling happen in one move.

  • Ask for drafts and schedule them in the same message
  • Target several networks at once from one instruction
  • Everything lands in your calendar for review first

Try asking it

Things that work well once ChatGPT is connected.

“Write three posts about our launch and schedule them for Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am.”
“Look at what I posted last month and suggest five follow-ups, then queue the best three.”
“Cancel anything scheduled for this weekend.”

Connector support depends on your ChatGPT plan and client. If you do not see custom connectors, the REST API works from any ChatGPT setup that can call a web request.

What to ask for

Four things worth asking ChatGPT

Name the networks, the timing and the tone. Copy any of these as-is.

Announcement

Ship a launch post

“We just shipped Bluesky support. Write a short, confident post for LinkedIn and X and schedule both for tomorrow at 9am.”

Content calendar

Fill a whole week

“Plan five posts about social media scheduling for next week, one per weekday at 10am, and spread them across LinkedIn, X and Threads.”

Repurposing

Mine what already worked

“Look at my published posts from the last month, find the three with the best engagement, and queue a fresh take on each for next week.”

Housekeeping

Clear the weekend

“Show me everything scheduled between Friday and Sunday, then cancel the Saturday ones and move Sunday to Monday morning.”

Why it is useful

ChatGPT plus SchedPilot

Plain English, no commands

Say what you want posted and when. ChatGPT picks the right tool itself — there is no syntax to memorise and no dashboard to open.

No API key to manage

The remote connector signs in with OAuth. Nothing sits in a config file, and you can revoke the connection from your SchedPilot account whenever you like.

Nine networks, one request

Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky. One instruction can target as many as you want.

It still goes out if you close the tab

Scheduling writes to SchedPilot, not to the chat. Posts publish at the time you set whether or not ChatGPT is open.

Approval is not optional

Anything ChatGPT schedules queues for your review. It cannot push a post live behind your back, which is what makes giving it access reasonable.

It can read results too

Impressions, reach, likes, comments and shares on published posts — so "do more of what worked" is a question it can actually answer.

Which one

Connector or REST API?

Custom connectors need a ChatGPT plan and client that supports them. If yours does not, nothing is lost — the REST API reaches the same account.

Remote MCP connector REST API
Setup Paste one URL into connector settings and sign in Create a key in API Access and call the endpoint
Credentials OAuth — no key stored anywhere A key beginning smm_, which you keep secret
Requirement A ChatGPT plan and client that allows custom connectors Any setup that can make an HTTP request
How you use it Ask in the chat; ChatGPT chooses the tools Describe the call, or wire it into an action or script
Best for Most people — fastest route to a scheduled post Plans without connector support, or scripted workflows

Using a terminal or editor agent rather than the ChatGPT app? Those use the local MCP server instead — see the Claude Code, Cursor or Codex CLI guides.

What is MCP, and why does it matter here?

MCP — the Model Context Protocol — is the emerging standard for letting an AI assistant use an outside application. Instead of you describing an API to ChatGPT, the application advertises what it can do and the assistant reads that list and calls what it needs.

SchedPilot runs an MCP server, so once you add it as a connector ChatGPT discovers six tools on its own: list accounts, create a post, list posts, delete a post, upload media and read analytics. You never tell it which endpoint to call.

That is also why there is nothing to install for the ChatGPT app. The server is remote and tied to your account, so the same connection follows you between the web app, the desktop app and your phone.

FAQs

ChatGPT questions

How does SchedPilot work with ChatGPT?
SchedPilot runs a remote MCP server. You add its URL as a custom connector in ChatGPT and sign in with your SchedPilot account, after which ChatGPT can draft, schedule, list and cancel posts across all nine networks you have connected — from an ordinary conversation.
How do I connect it?
Open connector settings in ChatGPT, add a custom connector, and paste the SchedPilot MCP URL shown above. A SchedPilot consent screen opens; approve it and the six tools appear immediately. There is no client id, secret or API key to create.
Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan?
Custom connectors are not available on every plan or client. If yours does not offer them, use the REST API instead — it reaches exactly the same account and the same calendar from any setup that can make an HTTP request.
What if my ChatGPT does not support connectors?
Use the REST API instead — anything that can make an HTTP request can schedule through SchedPilot.
Can ChatGPT post while I am away?
Yes, and this is the point of scheduling rather than posting. Once a post is approved and queued, SchedPilot publishes it at the set time whether or not ChatGPT is running or the tab is open.
Does ChatGPT get my social media passwords?
No. Your network accounts are connected to SchedPilot, not to ChatGPT, and the connector never exposes those credentials. ChatGPT only sees the six SchedPilot tools and the account names it is allowed to target.
Can it read my existing posts?
Yes. It can list scheduled and published posts and read analytics, which is what makes "suggest follow-ups to what worked" possible.
Which networks can it post to?
Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky — whichever of those you have connected in SchedPilot.
ChatGPT is not showing the SchedPilot tools. What should I check?
Three things, in order: that the connector URL was pasted in full, that you completed the SchedPilot sign-in rather than closing the consent window, and that your plan and client actually support custom connectors. If all three are fine, start a new conversation — tools are discovered when the chat begins.
What are the rate limits?
Per user, per hour: 150 read requests and 100 write requests. Scheduling a post with media costs two writes, one for the upload and one for the post.
Is it free to start?
Yes, there is a free trial and no credit card is needed to connect an agent and try it. Current plans are on the pricing page.
Can it publish without my approval?
No. Scheduling queues a post; it waits in your calendar until you approve it. That holds for every agent and every connection method.
