Give Windsurf somewhere to publish

Windsurf is happy running long, multi-step jobs. Add SchedPilot and "write the announcement and schedule it" becomes one of the steps rather than a thing you do afterwards.

Setup

Connect Windsurf in three steps

01

Create an API key

In SchedPilot, open API Access and generate a key. It starts with smm_.

02

Add the MCP server

Drop the configuration below into Windsurf, using your key.

03

Restart and ask

Restart Windsurf and ask it to list your connected accounts.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "schedpilot": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "schedpilot-mcp"],
      "env": { "SCHEDPILOT_TOKEN": "smm_your_key" }
    }
  }
}

Replace smm_your_key with the key from API Access in your SchedPilot account.

Once connected

What Windsurf can do

get_accounts
List every connected social account, with its id and type.
create_post
Schedule a post to one or many accounts, with media, a thread and a video title.
list_posts
Read scheduled and published posts, filtered by date or status.
delete_post
Cancel a scheduled post before it goes out.
upload_media
Upload an image or video from a URL and get a media id back.
get_analytics
Read impressions, reach, likes, comments and shares for a published post.

Rate limits are 150 read and 100 write requests per hour, per user. Scheduling a post with media costs two writes.

Why Windsurf

A publishing step inside a longer flow

Agentic editors are at their best doing several things in sequence. Publishing is a natural last step: build, document, announce — without you stitching the last part on by hand.

  • Works as a step in a longer agent run
  • Same stdio MCP server as the other editors
  • Posts queue for approval, so a long run cannot surprise you

Try asking it

Things that work well once Windsurf is connected.

“After the tests pass, draft a release post and schedule it for 10am.”
“List my connected accounts.”
“Reschedule everything from Friday to Monday.”

Windsurf uses the same MCP configuration shape as Cursor, so a block that works in one usually works in the other.

FAQs

Windsurf questions

Do I need a separate key?
No. One SchedPilot API key works across every client you connect.
Can it post without asking me?
It can schedule without asking, but publishing still needs your approval in the calendar.
Can it publish without my approval?
No. Scheduling queues a post; it waits in your calendar until you approve it. That holds for every agent and every connection method.

Using something else?

There is a setup guide for every agent we support, plus a REST API for anything that is not on the list.
